When Sorare, the French start-up selling football cards as NFTs, closed its famous $680M funding round, that record is what everyone remembered. But according to a scientific study by me, it is not unlikely that within a few months Sorare will break the world record for “I told you so”.
Because few start-ups are scrutinised as closely as this one. And, deep down, so poorly understood. Like every web3 company, Sorare already suffers from the prejudices of commentators who don’t understand what it does. Throw in the keywords sport, entertainment or NFT on top, and that’s the cherry on the icing on the cake.
So: why did Sorare raise so much dough, how was it spent? And above all: what’s left of it?
Well, that’s today’s topic.
